Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Our pelvic floor muscles perform so many different functions, problems with the muscles of the pelvic floor can manifest in many different ways including pelvic organ prolapse.

Pelvic organ prolapse refers to the descent of one or more of the pelvic organs (the bladder, uterus or bowel) into the vaginal space. 

If you have a bulging sensation at your vaginal entrance, heavy, dragging sensation in your pelvic floor, this is a good indication you may be experiencing a pelvic organ prolapse. 

1 in 2 women who have ever had a baby will experience prolapse.

Don't panic, you are not alone. 

Pelvic organ prolapse is commonly associated with having a baby, that being said, pelvic organ prolapse can also occur in women who have never given birth. Excessive straining for bowel issue or weight lifting are two more reasons why you may experience a pelvic organ prolapse issues.

It is rare that pelvic floor issues resolve on their own. Without any intervention or changes to your movement patterns and behaviour, they can get worse over time. The good news is, there is SO much that you CAN do to prevent and resolve many these issues without medication or surgery.
